
News Topical, Digital Desk : On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has begun extensive preparations to ensure safe and smooth travel for the state's residents during major festivals like Diwali, Bhaiya Dooj, and Chhath. Announcing an incentive period from October 18 to October 30, 2025, officials have been instructed to ensure maximum bus operations and passenger convenience.
Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh said that keeping in mind the huge rush of passengers during festivals, additional buses will be run on major routes including Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Kanpur for the passengers from Delhi to Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The number of buses will be increased in these districts
Additionally, the number of buses will be increased for Ghaziabad, Meerut, Moradabad, Bareilly, Saharanpur, Agra, Aligarh, and Etawah. He said that ensuring that millions of people from Purvanchal return home during the Chhath festival are able to complete their journey without inconvenience is the government's priority.
All buses will be on road, special emphasis on safety and convenience
The Transport Minister issued clear instructions that all municipal buses should be 100% on the road during this period. He stated that unfit buses will not be operated under any circumstances. Orders have been issued to ensure bus assembly, availability of spare parts, and necessary equipment. He also stated that for passenger convenience, bus stations should be equipped with cleanliness, drinking water, seating arrangements, digital timetables, and help centers.
Special incentives will be given to employees
The government has announced a financial incentive scheme for drivers, conductors, and employees working during the incentive period. Transport Corporation Managing Director Mr. Prabhu Narayan Singh stated that drivers/conductors who operate an average of 300 km per day for 12 days will receive an incentive of ₹4,800 at the rate of ₹400 per day.
Additionally, if a worker performs 13 consecutive days of duty and meets the prescribed standard, they will receive an incentive of ₹5,850 at the rate of ₹450 per day. Contract drivers/conductors will receive an additional honorarium of ₹0.55 per kilometer for exceeding the standard kilometers.
Workshop employees will receive a one-time incentive of ₹2,500 for 13 consecutive days of duty and ₹2,100 for 12. Regional managers will receive ₹10,000 for outstanding performance, service managers ₹5,000, and assistant regional managers will receive additional incentives based on the number of buses.
Breath analyzer test will be mandatory
The Transport Minister also directed that enforcement teams should conduct regular inspections during the incentive period and all drivers and operators should undergo breath analyser test to ensure safe travel.
