News Topical, Digital Desk : An incident of assault involving a Bhagwat Katha narrator has occurred in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. The accused assaulted and abused the victim when he asked for payment for the Katha. The matter subsequently reached the police. The police have registered a case, arrested the accused, and initiated legal proceedings. Unnao police stated that the victim reported the assault on April 11th. He arrived at the police station late at night and described the entire incident. Within two days, the police arrested the accused.

The victim, Awadhesh Chand Lodhi, is a resident of Kunjpur. He arrived at the Sohramau police station at 12:10 a.m. and filed a complaint. He stated that he works as a storyteller. His acquaintances, Anoop Dwivedi and Manish Pandey, assaulted him when he demanded payment for his storytelling. Both accused are residents of Rasulpur village.

Money was snatched for narrating Bhagwat Katha for 7 days

The victim, Awadhesh, said that he, along with his team, had performed the Bhagwat Katha at the doorstep of Rinku Singh, a resident of Rasulpur, from March 30 to April 6, at the behest of Anoop Dwivedi and Manish Pandey. Anoop Dwivedi and Manish Pandey had taken the responsibility of paying the money. After the Katha recitation was over, when Awadhesh demanded a total of 30,000 rupees for the Katha recitation, sound and other services, Manish and Anoop became enraged. They took the victim in their car and took him to different places in Lucknow. Anoop Dwivedi and Manish Pandey abused and assaulted the victim Awadhesh. Two unidentified persons were also present with them. 

Accused in police custody

Police said that based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Sohramau police station and the accused, Anoop Dwivedi, and his accomplices have been arrested. Further necessary legal action is being taken.
