Now the news is that Kul Man Ghising, the engineer who solved the power crisis, may be given the command of the interim government. The Genji protesters said in a brief statement on Thursday afternoon that the names of Kathmandu Mayor Balendra 'Balen' Shah and former Supreme Court Chief Justice Sushila Karki were also considered in the six-hour virtual meeting. But the emergence of Ghising's name has come as a surprise to many.
Disagreements among protesters, Balen rejects the proposal
NDTV quoted sources as saying that the protesters had earlier proposed Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah to lead the interim government. Balen is considered close to 'Jane G' due to his rapper image and popularity among the youth.
He also appealed for peace on social media. But Balen refused to take responsibility, after which reports of differences among the protesters also emerged.
After this, the name of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki came up. But some protesters opposed it citing her age (73 years) and the Constitution. They said that the Constitution prevents former judges from becoming Prime Minister. This debate has further strengthened the name of Kul Man Ghising.
