News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump expressed his delight after reaching a rare earths deal with China. He said he and Chinese President Xi Jinping had agreed on a one-year deal to supply essential rare earths.

He also announced a 10 percent tariff reduction on China. "All the rare earth issues have been resolved, and this is for the entire world," Trump said. “This deal is for one year and will be renegotiated every year.”

What did Trump say about meeting Xi Jinping?

Talking about his meeting with President Xi, the US President said, "We're going to issue a statement with some details, but overall, I think on a scale of 0-10, ah, 10 is the best number, but I would give it a 12."

He added, "I'll be going to China in April, and then he'll be coming to the United States. Whether it's Florida, Palm Beach, or Washington, D.C." Trump also said that "we've finalized a lot of things" and praised Xi, calling him "a tremendous leader of a very powerful country."

Talks made after tensions between America and China

Beijing imposed sweeping export controls on materials and related technology this month. Trump immediately announced retaliatory tariffs of up to 100% on all Chinese goods, originally set to take effect on Saturday. This move threatened to trigger another trade war. Trump later softened his stance, saying such tariff levels were "not sustainable" and expressing confidence that a deal could be reached on rare earths.
