News Topical, Digital Desk : President Donald Trump has formally extended the deadline for making internet media app TikTok available in the United States to December 16.
That gives time to finalize the framework of the agreement announced Monday after talks between U.S. and Chinese government officials.
This will be the fourth time Trump has defied federal government orders to extend the deadline to shut down TikTok. The original deadline was January 19th of this year, the day before Trump was sworn in for his second term.
Donald Trump had given TikTok a deadline of September 17. A day before this, he had said that he had agreed to a framework agreement with China to keep TikTok running.
A draft agreement has been reached between China and the United States over the ownership of the popular internet video platform TikTok, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said after trade talks in Spain. US President Donald Trump and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping will hold talks on Friday to finalize the deal.
