News Topical, Digital Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's appeal to 'adopt swadeshi' has received tremendous support from the traders of the country. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) has announced that a national campaign named 'Indian goods - our self-respect' will be launched across the country from August 10. The aim of this campaign is to inspire people to buy and sell Indian products.

This decision was taken in the two-day National Traders Conference held in New Delhi, in which more than 150 prominent business leaders from 26 states of the country participated. In the conference, the Prime Minister's appeal to 'buy and sell Indian goods' was described as a symbol of India's identity and self-reliance.

'Promoting indigenous products will increase employment in the country'

CAT's national general secretary and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal said that Indian small traders and cottage industries are being affected by the monopolistic policies of foreign companies. He said, "If we promote indigenous products, the country's economy will be strengthened, employment will increase and the country will become self-reliant."

What did CAT National President B.C. Bhartia say?

  • CAT's National President B.C. Bhartiya informed that this campaign will be run with the participation of more than 48,000 business organizations of the country.
  • He said that people will be made aware through business conferences, public dialogues, rallies, social media campaigns and posters in every state and district.
  • Schools, colleges, trade boards, NGOs and common citizens will also be associated with this campaign.

'Rural economy and handicrafts will get a boost'

Business leaders said that the quality of Indian products is no less than any foreign product now. Their price is also suitable for the common man. Supporting local artisans, entrepreneurs and traders will boost the rural economy and handicrafts. Excessive consumption of foreign goods increases the country's trade deficit, which is necessary to reduce.

CAT has appealed to all traders to put up posters in their shops saying only Indian goods are available and encourage customers to buy indigenous products.

The campaign will make the dream of 'self-reliant India' come true!

This campaign is considered to be an important step towards realizing Prime Minister Modi's dream of 'self-reliant India'. Earlier also during Covid-19, when questions were raised on imports from China, an atmosphere was created in the country regarding Swadeshi. Now the trade organizations have started taking it forward in an organized manner.
