News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid speculation about a possible alliance between the Shiv Sena (Ubatha) and the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Maharashtra, agricultural activist Kishore Tiwari has resigned from the Shiv Sena (Ubatha). Tiwari cited the MNS's "anti-Hindi and anti-minority" politics as the main reason for his resignation.
Tiwari confirmed in a statement issued on Monday (November 3) that he had resigned from the party's primary membership on Sunday. He explained the reasons behind his resignation, saying that the MNS is "against Hindi-speaking people, other linguistic minorities, and Muslims."
'It will be detrimental to the alliance'
Tiwari emphasized that all these classes are the "backbone of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the opposition alliance 'India.'" He claimed that if the Shiv Sena (Ubatha) ignores these classes, it will be detrimental to the alliance.
Analysing the results of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Tiwari claimed that out of the 20 seats won by Shiv Sena (Ubatha), victory in 10 seats was possible mainly due to the support of Hindi-speaking, Muslim, Dalit and OBC voters.
'Kishore Tiwari had earlier also expressed objection to the alliance'
This wasn't the first time Kishore Tiwari had objected to a potential alliance. Tiwari, who was removed as Shiv Sena (Ubatha) spokesperson in February of this year, had previously written an open letter to party chief Uddhav Thackeray. In this letter, he urged Thackeray not to form an alliance with his cousin Raj Thackeray, who was pursuing an "agenda against non-Marathi and Muslims" in Maharashtra.
'I have no option but to leave the party'
Tiwari said his appeal was ignored by the party leadership, leaving him with no choice but to leave. He said, “Now, in order to protect linguistic regionalism and harmony and in the national interest, I am parting ways with Shiv Sena (Ubatha).”
Kishore Tiwari was appointed head of a task force formed by the state government a few years ago to prevent farmer suicides and suggest agricultural reforms, but was later removed from the post.
