News Topical, Digital Desk : A major breakthrough has been made in the two-year-long war between Israel and Hamas. US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the two sides have reached agreement on the first phase of his peace plan.

The agreement will bring about a halt to fighting and the release of some hostages and prisoners. Trump said it was the biggest breakthrough in months and a concrete step toward peace.

Trump made a big announcement

"This means that all hostages will be released very soon and Israel will withdraw its troops to the agreed lines. This is the first step towards a strong and lasting peace," Trump wrote on social media.

He also said that all parties would be treated equally in this agreement. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "God willing, we will bring all our people back home." Meanwhile, Hamas issued a separate statement saying that the agreement includes the withdrawal of Israeli troops, allowing the entry of humanitarian aid, and the exchange of hostages and prisoners.

How many hostages will Hamas release?

According to sources, Hamas will release its 20 surviving hostages by the end of this week. At the same time, the Israeli army will begin withdrawing from most areas of Gaza. However, it is unclear whether any progress has been made on future contentious issues, such as Hamas's surrender of weapons as demanded by Trump, or the post-war governance arrangements for Gaza.
