News Topical, Digital Desk : A 19-year-old youth working in a fast food factory in California, USA, died after getting stuck in a meat grinder. This youth was a cleaning worker at Teena's Burritos food processing plant in Vernon, California.
According to the New York Post report, he was cleaning the meat grinder after his shift ended, when it suddenly started. Sergeant Daniel Onopa of the Vernon Police Department said that the incident happened around 9:30 pm. Suddenly the machine started and pulled the cleaner inside.
Death had occurred before the police arrived
He said other employees heard his screams and tried to stop the machine. By the time the police arrived, the victim had died.
Police is investigating the matter
Sergeant Onopa said an investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the machine to turn on. "Our thoughts are with the family, friends and co-workers affected by this tragedy," he said. The California Occupational Safety and Health Division will also investigate the worker's horrific death and try to determine what might have caused the meat grinder to suddenly fire.
