News Topical, Digital Desk : The White House has renamed the US Institute of Peace to the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace. President Trump's name is displayed outside the United States Institute of Peace in Washington, DC, where he will host the presidents of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday.

The move follows a controversial takeover by the Trump administration earlier this year, which attempted to impose its leadership by removing staff, a move blocked by a federal judge as a "gross overreach of power."

When asked about the White House's decision to rename the US Institute of Peace to the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said the US Institute of Peace is named after the president.

Why the name change?

White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace, named after a president who ended eight wars in less than a year, will stand as a powerful reminder of what strong leadership can achieve for global stability. Congratulations, world!

Marco Rubio endorsed

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio supported the move, writing on Twitter: "History will remember President Trump as the President of Peace. It's time for our State Department to reflect that as well."

It's worth noting that Trump's claim of taking credit for ending eight wars in the world is completely debatable. Because the conflicts he claims to have ended include the Israel-Hamas conflict.
