News Topical, Digital Desk : There's good news for those traveling from Siliguri to Panipat. The expressway being built from Gorakhpur to Shamli is now being expanded. This expressway will now extend from Kushinagar to Panipat. Beyond Kushinagar, it will connect with the Siliguri Expressway. This expressway, connecting 22 districts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, will now be 750 km long.
NHAI Project Director Lalit Pratap Pal stated that the Panipat-Gorakhpur Expressway will now be extended to Kushinagar district. Its length will be increased by three to four kilometers in Kushinagar. It will be connected to the Siliguri Expressway beyond Kushinagar. This means that the four-lane expressway from Siliguri to Panipat can now be traveled directly on a four-lane road. Alignment work is being carried out at a rapid pace and is expected to be completed by February. The four-lane width will be 60 to 70 meters. The alignment will be completed and the design ready by next month. The connection of the two expressways will provide a direct four-lane road from Siliguri to Panipat. This road will also connect Purvanchal with western Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, facilitating trade and transportation.
The expressway was originally scheduled to be built from Gorakhpur to Shamli, but it was decided to extend it to Panipat. Now, it has been decided to extend it and connect it to the Siliguri Expressway within the Kushinagar area. Alignment work has begun. The land acquisition process will begin soon. Construction on this expressway is expected to begin in 2026.
This expressway will connect these districts of Uttar Pradesh: Kushinagar to Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lucknow, Sitapur, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Rampur, Bareilly, Sambhal, Amroha, Meerut, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Panipat. The expressway will now be 750 km long. The expressway will be 22.50 km in Sant Kabir Nagar, 34 km in Gorakhpur, and 3 km in Kushinagar. The Panipat Expressway will cross the Gorakhpur-Sonauli Highway near the Nayansar toll plaza.
