News Topical, Digital Desk : Chief Justice BR Gavai has said that he was very satisfied with the verdict on the bulldozer action, as it dealt with humanitarian problems. On November 13, 2024, a bench of Justices Gavai and KV Vishwanathan compared bulldozer justice to a chaotic situation and laid down guidelines for the country.

Speaking at an event, CJI Gavai said he had the opportunity to share the bench with Justice Vishwanathan for about six months, during which the bench passed several directions against the executive's tendency to arbitrarily demolish properties of accused or convicts.

He said, "I think the bulldozer decision is one that gave both of us immense satisfaction. At its core were humanitarian issues. Families were being harassed simply because their members were criminals or accused."

The CJI also said that the credit for this decision goes not only to him but also to Justice Vishwanathan. He added that the tenure of the CJI has no impact on the administration of justice.

The CJI said, "I do not believe that the tenure of the Chief Justice has any direct relationship to the efficiency of the administration of justice. For two and a half months, we have had excellent Chief Justices like Justice Lalit and Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who have made their mark and are known for their contributions to the delivery of justice and the administration of justice."

The CJI said, "I have always strived to improve the administration of justice and the judicial infrastructure across the country." He also said that in the last few years, efforts have been made to provide good representation to young lawyers practicing in the Supreme Court.
