News Topical, Digital Desk : In a sensational operation, Telangana police have seized 401 kg of ganja and arrested three smugglers. The Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station and the Regional Narcotics Control Cell, Khammam wing of the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) intercepted a DCM vehicle near Ramoji Film City, Pedda Amberpet on Wednesday.

The three arrested smugglers are from Rajasthan. They were transporting marijuana from Visakhapatnam to Rajasthan. The marijuana was hidden under a load of coconuts.

According to police, six people were involved in the operation, three of whom, Sridhar, Ashu, and Parmeshwar, are still at large. The smuggling network was operated by Om Bishnoi of Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, who has already been arrested in Jagdalpur, Odisha.

Ganja was hidden under coconut

According to Eagle, Om Bishnoi purchased marijuana from Sridhar of Rajahmundry and planned to supply it in Rajasthan. He assigned Chotu Narayan Lal Naik to transport the marijuana, paying him ₹25,000 per trip. After Bishnoi's arrest, Naik dealt directly with Sridhar and purchased 400 kg of marijuana at ₹2,000 per kg.

He planned to sell it to Ashu in Bikaner for Rs 4,000 per kilogram. Naik also involved Pushkar Raj Naik, Kishan Lal Naik, and Parmeshwar in the smuggling. The marijuana was loaded into a van and hidden under coconuts. Kishan Lal Naik drove the van, while Naik and Pushkar followed in a car.

Rapid action by the police

A joint team of Rachakonda Narcotics Police and the RNCC Khammam Wing intercepted both vehicles near Abdullahpurmet X Road on the Vijayawada Highway. Chotu Narayan Lal Naik and Kishan Lal Naik were arrested. Police seized 401.467 kg of marijuana, five mobile phones, a van, and a car.

A case has been registered at the Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station under various sections of the NDPS Act. Police are searching for the three absconding accused and attempting to unravel the entire trafficking network.
