News Topical, Digital Desk : The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has approved the name change of Tata Motors Ltd. The company's new name will be 'Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited (TMPVL)' effective October 24, 2025. In August last year, Tata Motors' board approved a proposal to demerge its commercial and passenger vehicle businesses into separate listed entities. The objective is to enhance business focus in both segments and better utilize future growth potential.

Under this demerger, the passenger vehicle unit will be named Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPVL), while the commercial vehicle unit will be listed as Tata Motors (TML) in November 2025. This will be a 1:1 demerger, creating two independent and focused companies: Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (TMLCV) and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV). 

Share Performance The company's stock closed at Rs 396.40 on Thursday, up 1.42 per cent. The company's stock has fallen 56.32 per cent in the last one year. Tata Motors shares have fallen nearly 7 per cent in the last one month, while since the beginning of 2025, the stock has declined 11 per cent. This decline comes after the company's strong rally of over 210 per cent in the last five years.
