News Topical, Digital Desk : The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested Talwinder Singh alias Zara, a key member of the notorious Salman Tyagi-Saddam Gauri gang and a most wanted criminal, from Amritsar, Punjab. The accused had been absconding since 2019 and was declared a proclaimed offender by a court in a MCOCA case registered at the Hari Nagar police station.
Delhi Police took important action on intelligence information
The Delhi Police Special Cell had been searching for the accused for a long time. A few weeks ago, the police received credible information that he was hiding in Punjab. After several days of technical and manual surveillance, the police located his hideout in Gurnam Nagar, Sultanwind Colony, Amritsar. Talwinder was living there under the name Gurdas to avoid detection. On the night of October 12-13, the police team laid a siege and apprehended him on the main road in Gurnam Nagar on the afternoon of October 13.
The accused was revealed during the interrogation of Delhi Police
During interrogation by Delhi Police, accused Talwinder revealed that he is a resident of Ashok Nagar, Delhi. His father was a clothing dealer. After leaving his studies, he joined their business, but later came into contact with the Salman Tyagi-Saddam Gauri gang. In the first case registered in 2013, he and his associates attacked a man named Raminder Singh with a knife and brandished a pistol to spread terror in the area. MCOCA was imposed in 2019 to curb the gang's increasing criminal activities. Since then, Talwinder has been frequently shifting locations between Delhi and Punjab. Currently, the accused has been handed over to the MCOCA investigation team at the Hari Nagar police station for further investigation.
Delhi Police investigation continues
The Delhi Police is continuously taking action to curb gangsters. They are also investigating how many other individuals are involved with the accused. Consequently, more arrests are likely to be made in this case soon.
