Speaking to the media in Shimla after his return, the Chief Minister stated that discussions regarding the new Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee president would be announced once the name of the president is finalized.
The Chief Minister said that discussions on social media should be avoided. Meanwhile, regarding the issues of HRTC employees and state pensioners, the Chief Minister said that the government will take action to resolve the problems of employees and pensioners.
Regarding the heated discussions surrounding the appointment of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President following Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh's visit to Delhi, the Chief Minister stated that the name of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President was announced after it was finalized. The Chief Minister stated that the party high command would decide on the name of the President. He urged that discussions on social media should be avoided.
' DA arrears will be credited to employee pensioners' accounts before Diwali '
Meanwhile, on the issue of the Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation and the state's pensioners, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu stated that the state government respects pensioners. The Chief Minister noted that the former Jairam government received additional funds from the RDG grant, but the liabilities remained unpaid. He added that despite numerous difficulties, the government has paid off the liabilities of pensioners over the age of 75. Furthermore, the government has announced a 3% DA before Diwali . Additionally, DA arrears from April to September will also be credited to employee pensioners' accounts before Diwali.
' There is a need to strengthen HRTC '
Additionally, regarding the HRTC pensioners' protest, the Chief Minister stated that the government understands their problems. However, the state government needs to strengthen the HRTC . He stated that the government provides a grant of ₹57 crore annually, but the corporation will have to work independently to cover routing expenses. The Chief Minister also stated that an additional ₹10 crore grant has been requested for HRTC for Diwali.
' The Prime Minister had announced assistance of Rs 1500 crore '
Meanwhile, responding to the opposition's allegations of a lack of aid for disaster-affected people, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu stated that the state government is working to provide assistance to disaster-affected people across the state. It is providing ₹7 lakh to those who lost their homes in the disaster, and an additional ₹70,000 for goods.
The Chief Minister stated that the Prime Minister had announced a disaster relief aid of ₹1,500 crore for the state. The state government is still awaiting that aid. He added that if this assistance is not received immediately, the government will provide assistance to the disaster-affected people of the state on its own.
