News Topical, Digital Desk : Rhea Chakraborty was exonerated in the Sushant Singh Rajput case in March this year. The CBI gave her a clean chit in its closure report. Now, months later, Sushant's family has decided to challenge the CBI's closure report.
Sushant Singh Rajput's family is not satisfied with the CBI's closure report. They have called it a sham. They say they will file a petition challenging the report that exonerates Rhea Chakraborty .
Sushant's family against the closure report
According to Hindustan Times, Sushant Singh Rajput's family lawyer Varun Singh has called the closure report incomplete. Varun Singh said, “This is nothing but a sham. If the CBI really wanted to bring out the truth, they should have submitted all supporting case documents, including chats, technical records, witness statements, medical records, along with the final (closure) report to the court, which they did not. We will file a protest petition against this closure report, which is based on a shoddy investigation.”
What did CBI say in the closure report?
Following Sushant Singh Rajput 's death on June 14, 2020, his family accused Rhea Chakraborty and her family of inciting him to suicide and threatening him. After a five-year trial, in March of this year, the CBI claimed in its closure report that no evidence was found against Rhea. Witnesses say Sushant considered Rhea to be family.
The CBI had said in the closure report, "There is no evidence to suggest that Rhea Chakraborty illegally confined, threatened or abetted the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput or that she misappropriated his money or property for her own benefit."
