
News Topical, Digital Desk : Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the attack on Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi in the Thakurganj area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday night. The attack has sparked outrage from the Shia cleric and his supporters.
Complainant Syed Sarim Mehndi filed a complaint at the police station against 20-25 named and unidentified individuals. The named accused include Pankaj, Muzammil, Shazan, Rachit Tandon, Siraj, and Kashan. The FIR was registered under sections 191(2), 126(2), 324(2), 352, 351(3), and 131 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The incident occurred during the inspection of the property.
Syed Sarim Mehndi stated that he is the caretaker of the application for Waqf Karbala Abbas Bagh, Rajabganj, Hardoi Road, Thakurganj, Lucknow, and that Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi oversees the Waqf. Yesterday at 6 p.m., he and the Maulana went to inspect the Waqf property due to complaints of illegal encroachment and construction. During the inspection, the accused stopped their vehicle on the way to Waqf Karbala Abbas Bagh and attacked them.
Policemen saved the Maulana
According to Mehndi, the accused blocked the road of the Maulana and his fellow lawyer, abused them, tried to break into their car, and threatened to kill them. He claimed that the mob launched a deadly attack, but police officers on the scene intervened and saved the lives of the Maulana, Mehndi, and the lawyer. A major incident could have occurred otherwise.
Police started investigation
The police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation. Given the seriousness of the incident, officials are investigating all aspects. Locals are outraged by the incident and demanding strict police action. Supporters of Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi are also protesting, linking the attack to religious sentiments. The police have assured that the accused will be arrested soon and the investigation will be completed.
