News Topical, Digital Desk : Rekha Gupta The Delhi government is working on a plan to provide subsidy to owners on retrofitting old petrol and diesel cars into electric vehicles (EVs) under its upcoming Electric Vehicle Policy 2.0.
Accordingly, financial assistance of ₹50,000 will be provided for the first 1,000 vehicles. This initiative is aimed at owners who choose to convert their old cars to electric rather than scrapping them.
The aim is to reduce pollution
The proposal is currently pending Cabinet approval and is only a recommendation. Following Cabinet approval, it will be placed in the public domain for public and stakeholder feedback. Its goal is to reduce air pollution and promote electric vehicles.
The scheme will attract people towards EVs.
Under the scheme, more people will be attracted towards EVs by making it easier and cheaper to convert old petrol-diesel vehicles into electric ones.
