News Topical, Digital Desk : Strict adherence to reservation rules has now been made mandatory for all government recruitments in Uttar Pradesh. A government order regarding reservations has been issued on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath . Under this order, all Additional Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of the state have been clearly instructed that negligence regarding reservations will not be tolerated in any recruitment process.
This government order regarding reservations was issued by M. Devraj, Principal Secretary of the Department of Appointments and Personnel. The order states that all departments should review their recruitment processes and ensure that reservation rules are implemented in letter and spirit.
The government order clarifies that the reservations for OBC, SC, ST, and EWS will be fully adhered to. Horizontal reservations for the disabled, women, and ex-servicemen will also be implemented compulsorily. The government has made it clear that any reservation provision should not remain limited to paper, but that its actual benefits should reach eligible candidates.
Reference to earlier laws and orders
The order states that several laws and government orders related to reservation in gazetted services in Uttar Pradesh are already in effect. These include the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes Reservation Act of 1994, the Economically Weaker Sections Reservation Act of 2020, and the Reservation Act for Persons with Disabilities, Freedom Fighter Dependents, and Ex-Servicemen of 1993. Furthermore, a government order providing horizontal reservation for women is also in effect.
Instructions for re-examination to recruitment institutions
The government has also stated that if any discrepancies are found in the calculation of reservations in proposals submitted by the Public Service Commission, Selection Commission, or any other recruitment board, the departments should conduct a re-examination at their own level. Any discrepancies found should be resolved in coordination with the relevant commission or selection body.
There will be no exemption for negligence
The government order clearly warns that any laxity in following reservation rules will not be tolerated. The government states that only a transparent and fair recruitment process can maintain the trust of the state's youth. This strict order has been issued with the aim of ensuring that every category receives its dues on time.
