News Topical, Digital Desk : The Delhi government has adopted a strict stance to control the rising air pollution in the capital. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the government is implementing a multi-pronged strategy against pollution. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has issued a clear warning that any industry found polluting will be sealed without any leniency.

The Environment Minister stated that the campaign against polluting industries has been intensified starting today. Immediate action will be taken against industrial units violating air pollution regulations. Strict action will be taken, especially against those industries that have not applied for the required OECM certification by the deadline.

'Till now 2 lakh vehicles have been checked'

Minister Sirsa informed that since the implementation of the "No PUC, No Fuel" rule under GRAP-4, pollution tests have been conducted on over 200,000 vehicles. Of these, approximately 10,000 vehicles failed to meet the prescribed standards. This clearly demonstrates that strict inspections and enforcement are improving the system. He added that all PUC centers are being upgraded with modern machines to ensure transparency in testing and ensure no one faces any inconvenience.

Illegal factories will be identified and closed.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) have been instructed to take strict action against illegal and unauthorized industries. Factories operating in violation of regulations in the city will be identified and closed.

To reduce dust and garbage pollution, roads are being cleaned and water is being sprinkled 24 hours a day. Meanwhile, large-scale bio-mining is being conducted at landfill sites. Every day, approximately 35,000 metric tons of old waste is being scientifically disposed of, reducing garbage mountains and purifying the air.

'Action will also be taken against offices that do not follow the rules'

The Environment Minister also issued a strong message regarding work-from-home. He stated that under GRAP-4, 50 percent of employees are required to work from home, and that private offices that do not comply will face action. He added that public health is the government's top priority.

'Laxity will not be tolerated'

Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated clearly that no laxity will be tolerated in the mission to clean Delhi's air. He also appealed to the public to follow the rules and support the government in making Delhi a clean and healthy city.

It's worth noting that every winter, air pollution in Delhi reaches critical levels. Vehicle exhaust, industrial pollution, construction dust, and mountains of garbage are considered the major causes. This is why the government implements GRAP every year to control the situation.
