
News Topical, Digital Desk : During the Nifty weekly expiry session, enthusiasm was seen in the domestic stock market. The stock market managed to close on a positive note for the fifth consecutive session. Midcap and smallcap indices closed on a positive note. However, Nifty Bank closed flat. On the sectoral front, there was buying in IT, pharma, FMCG stocks. On the other hand, Realty, Oil & Gas and PSE indices closed with a fall.
With today's gain, the market has now reached a two-week high. Nifty managed to close above 24,800. After the news of Infosys' buyback, IT stocks saw a rise today and the Nifty IT index closed with a jump of 3%. Infosys was the fastest stock in Nifty and it closed with a gain of 5%.
At what level did the market close? After a day's work on Tuesday, the Sensex closed at 81,101, up 314 points, and the Nifty closed at 24,869, up 95 points. Nifty Bank saw a marginal gain of 29 points and closed at 54,216. The Nifty Midcap index closed at 57,464, up 103 points.
Which stocks saw action? Apart from Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech and TCS closed with a gain of 2-3%. Select auto stocks like Maruti Suzuki and Eicher Motors saw a rise of up to 1%. There was a sharp recovery in Kotak Mahindra Bank. Information about a block deal of about Rs 6,000 crore was received in this stock. The selling phase in Trent continued on Tuesday as well. This stock was the weakest stock in Nifty for the second consecutive session. New age stocks like Paytm, Nykaa and Delhivery showed weakness of up to 2-3%. RailTel closed with a gain of 6%. The company has received an order of Rs 660 crore, after which this rise was seen. After the block deal, Prime Foucs closed at an upper circuit of 10% for the third consecutive session today. Voltamp also saw a rise of 4% after a block deal of Rs 618 crore. Bikaji Food closed with a decline of 2% after the summons of the company's managing director by the ED.
