News Topical, Digital Desk : For various reasons, prisoners confined in various jails across the state have significantly lagged behind students who attend school regularly in terms of academic performance. This situation is prevalent not only in high school, but also in intermediate schools.

This picture appeared in the exam results.

This picture emerged in the results released by the UP Board on April 23. The combined success rate for both institutional and individual candidates from government, aided, and self-financed schools who took the board exams is lower than that of captive candidates. The pass percentage for captive candidates is higher.

The passing percentage of prisoners in jails is shocking.

The pass percentage for institutional high school students who attend school year-round is 90.51 percent, while for individual candidates, the pass percentage is 66.67 percent. The combined pass percentage is 90.42 percent. In contrast, the pass percentage for jail inmates who took the high school exam is 98.53 percent.

Passing percentage of prisoners in high school  

Of the prisoners imprisoned in jails across 24 districts who took the high school examination, one prisoner from Varanasi jail failed, resulting in a pass percentage of prisoners in Varanasi jail of 83.33. Furthermore, the pass percentage of prisoners in jails across the remaining 23 districts is 100.

Success of prisoners in Intermediate 

Similarly, the pass percentage of institutional candidates studying in schools in Intermediate is 80.47, while 77.54 percent of individual candidates have been declared successful. The combined pass percentage of both is 80.38. On the contrary, the pass percentage of prisoners lodged in jails of 27 districts who appeared in the Intermediate examination is 84.44 percent. Of these, 100 percent prisoners from 14 districts have passed, while the success percentage of prisoners from 13 districts is less.
