
News Topical, Digital Desk : The country's major stock exchanges, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed on Wednesday, August 27 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Earlier, trading in the stock market was closed on Independence Day on August 15. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp in many parts of the country including Maharashtra, so it is a major holiday in Mumbai-based stock exchanges. In this way, there will be a total of two stock market holidays in August. Earlier, the last stock market holiday which fell on a weekend was on May 1.
In the remaining part of the calendar year 2025, the stock market will remain closed for a total of four more holidays. The next holiday will be on Thursday, October 2, when Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra fall on the same day. Apart from this, the stock market will remain closed for two more days in October - October 21 and October 22 due to Diwali Lakshmi Pujan and Balipratipada.
The market will open for Muhurat trading on Diwali day. However, regular trading will be closed on October 21 (Diwali Lakshmi Pujan), but the exchanges will open for Muhurat trading in the evening. After this, there will be one day holiday each in November and December. On November 5, BSE and NSE will remain closed on the occasion of Prakash Gurpurab Shri Guru Nanak Dev. At the same time, the last stock market holiday of the year 2025 will fall on December 25 (Thursday), when the stock market will be closed on the occasion of Christmas.
