News Topical, Digital Desk : Stock Market Today: The Indian stock market started the trading day flat on Tuesday, January 27. Major benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex, opened in the red, and the NSE Nifty 50 opened in the green.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index fell 100.91 points, or 0.12 percent, to 81,436.79, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose 14.70 points, or 0.06 percent, to 25,063.35. However, the Nifty also slipped into the red as soon as the market opened. At around 9:25 am, the Sensex was trading 401 points lower at 81,135. The Nifty 50 slipped 104 points to trade at 24,944.

How was the market on Friday?
The Indian stock market witnessed a sharp decline on Friday, January 23rd, with both major benchmark indices closing in the red. The Sensex fell 769.67 points, or 0.94 percent, to 81,537.70, while the NSE Nifty 50 slipped 241.25 points, or 0.95 percent, to end the day at 25,048.65.
Tech Mahindra, TCS, HCL Tech, and Titan were the top gainers in the BSE basket. Top losers were Adani Ports, Eternal, IndiGo, Axis Bank, and PowerGrid.
Nifty Midcap 100, Nifty 100, Nifty Bank, Nifty IT, Nifty Smallcap 100, Nifty Auto, and Nifty FMCG stocks declined. Seven stocks from the BSE basket closed in the green on Friday, while 23 declined.
