In an interview with Film Companion, Sonam Bajwa revealed that she turned down several Bollywood films simply because they required kissing scenes. "Will Punjab accept this?" Sonam asked.

Sonam further said, “Our mindset is that the movie should be something that the family can sit and watch. I was very scared of doing a kissing scene in a film at that time because I thought, how would people react to it? Will the people who have made me what I am today connect with it? Will they understand that it's for the script? Will my family understand that it's for the film? I had all these questions in my mind. And I left some things out.”

However, Sonam said that she regrets turning down some projects because she did so quickly without thinking them through. She said that she later spoke to her parents about the project and they said, "Yes, if it was for the film, then it's fine." She was shocked by her parents' response. She added, "I regret not talking to them about it earlier. We tend to assume many things based on our own beliefs."
