
Shivraj Singh Chouhan Visits Vidisha: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited his parliamentary constituency Vidisha on Monday (April 14). Here he visited his farmhouse and took stock of the farming being done there. The Union Agriculture Minister emphasized on the cultivation of dragon fruit and avocado. He asked the farmers to cultivate these fruits with confidence and move forward. Along with this, he also emphasized on creating a farmer ID.
Giving information on social media, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan wrote, "Today I have come to my farm in Vidisha with a new resolution. In our country, we import fruits like dragon fruit (kamalm), avocado worth about Rs 5 thousand crore. This money can go into the pockets of our farmers, if we cultivate these crops in our country itself.
Emphasis on cultivation of dragon fruit, avocado and jack fruit
He further wrote, "Bangalore-based ICAR-IIHR has done important research on crops like Kamalam, Jackfruit and Avocado. Successful experiments have been done in Bangalore, but now there is a need to take this initiative forward across the country. In this direction, I myself am experimenting with the cultivation of dragon fruit, avocado and jack fruit in my farm so that farmers can see, understand and move forward in this direction with confidence.
'We have to make our farmers self-reliant in the country'
Shivraj Singh Chauhan also said in another post, “In our country, we import fruits like dragon fruit, avocado worth about 5 thousand crore rupees. We have to make our farmers self-reliant in the country and hence their cultivation has just started here.”

He further said, "Very good experiments are being done on its cultivation in Bangalore, but it has to be done in other places too. That is why I have also decided to do an experiment on dragon fruit, avocado, jackfruit here and show it to the farmers so that they gain confidence. And that is why I came to my farm today to prepare for it."
'Natural farming will not happen only with speeches'
Along with this, the Union Minister also said that natural farming cannot be done only through speeches, it has to be implemented on the ground. He said, "As the Agriculture Minister, I have decided to experiment with it in my own farm."
