News Topical, Digital Desk : Actor Sharman Joshi recently completed 25 years in the film industry. After roles in Godmother and Lajja, his journey to central roles began with the film Style. A native of theatre, Sharman maintained his connection with theatre after entering films. Recently, the release of his film "3 Idiots" also marked 16 years. Here are highlights from a conversation with him on the Dainik Jagran platform in Mumbai:

How will you see this year?

It's been quite interesting. This year I'm doing Sikandar, a Bengali film (Bhalobasa Mausam), a play, and a brain game show (Entertainers). It's a time of reinvention for me.

Will you make some new resolutions for next year?

I don't make any resolutions. I just try to maintain the ones I've already made. I try to do what's best for me, both personally and professionally. I also go on trips every now and then. I want to enjoy all the joys of life. Work hard and travel a lot, and that's my goal going into next year.

What motivated you to do well in every situation?

My work is what inspires me. I strive to do the best I can with every project. Gomdar was my first film. Before that, I had acted in a lot of theatre, but had never been on a film set. Newcomers often get overwhelmed by the sheer spectacle of what happens there, but I passed that test. After that, my interest in acting only grew stronger.

Both the commercial masala films were very different, what benefit did you get from this in your career?

I've been blessed by God ever since Godmother. The film won six National Film Awards. It was an offbeat film. After that, I did a completely different, completely commercial film style. After making films like Tezaab and Ankush, director N Chandra changed his direction and made a film like Style. For this, we used to rehearse like in a theatre all day. Style was the film after watching which Raju Sir (filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani) cast me in 3 Idiots.
