News Topical, Digital Desk : Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd has moved ahead to acquire Colombo Dockyard PLC. The company's board has approved the acquisition. The total cost of this deal is said to be Rs 452 crore. This acquisition is being done under a strategic stake in Sri Lanka-based Colombo Dockyard, which will give Mazagon Dock an opportunity to expand in foreign markets. This move is considered a major step towards the company's international expansion and establishing its foothold in the marine construction sector.

The company said in an exchange filing, "The board of the company in its meeting held on June 27, 2025 has, among other things, approved the acquisition of a controlling and significant stake in Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC), a company listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange of Sri Lanka." This investment is equivalent to Rs 452 crore. The company said that after the completion of the proposed acquisition process, CDPLC will become a subsidiary of the company. Share performance At the time of writing the news on Friday, the company's stock was trading at Rs 3,188.40 with a gain of 2.12 per cent. In the last one year, the company's stock has seen a gain of 44.39 per cent.
