News Topical, Digital Desk : The festival of Shardiya Navratri (Shardiya Navratri 2025) is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. This nine-day festival celebrates the worship of the nine forms of the Goddess. Devotees perform puja and fast during this time. Some fast for the entire nine days, some fast on the first and last day of Navratri, and some eat only once a day for nine days.

Fasting is considered essential for spiritual and physical purification, but prolonged fasting can cause weakness, fatigue, and dizziness. Therefore, it's crucial that your diet (Navratri Diet Tips) provides you with abundant energy and keeps you physically and mentally fit. Let's explore some essential diet tips that can help you stay energized even during fasting.

Hydration is most important

It's crucial to stay hydrated during a fast. Therefore, drink at least 3-4 liters of water daily. Additionally, drink coconut water, lemonade, buttermilk, yogurt, and fresh fruit juices. These will not only replenish your body's water needs but also maintain electrolyte balance , preventing weakness.

Eat something in small intervals

Eating only once a day can cause your blood sugar levels to drop and lead to weakness. To avoid this, try to eat something light every 2-3 hours. You can have fruit, nuts, tapioca chips, or a glass of milk. This will  keep your body energized .

Eat a nutrient-rich diet

Those who rely solely on fruits during fasting need to include nutritious foods in their diet. Eat dried fruits like almonds, walnuts, and cashews; seeds like pumpkin seeds; and fruits like bananas, apples, and pears. The natural sugars, vitamins, and minerals present in these will provide energy.

Eat rock salt at the right time

If you consume rock salt once a day, it's most beneficial to take it in the morning. During the day, the body needs more energy and sodium. Rock salt helps maintain physical and mental balance.

Be careful while breaking the fast

After a nine-day fast, the stomach becomes a little sensitive. Therefore, when breaking the fast, eat light and easily digestible foods. Avoid fried or heavy foods. To break the fast, first drink coconut water, buttermilk, or fruit juice. After some time, you can eat light food like fruit, yogurt, or vegetable soup.

Exercise restraint in offerings on Navami

People often overeat when they see the delicious offerings made on Navami, such as puris, chana, and halwa, which can cause stomach upset. Consume these items in moderation, especially if you've been fasting for nine days. Also, eat light food after consuming the offerings and resume normal eating and drinking the next day.
