
News Topical, Digital Desk : Gorakhpeeth, the place of penance of Guru Gorakhnath, the Shiva incarnation of the Nath sect, is ready for the worship of Mother Adishakti. On Monday, September 22nd, the first day of Sharadiya Navratri, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the head of the Gorakhpeetha, will install the Kalash in the Shakti temple at 5 pm. This will mark the beginning of a special ten-day ritual.
On Vijayadashami, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the head of the Gorakhpeetha, will lead a grand procession from the Gorakhnath Temple to the Ramlila Maidan, riding on a chariot. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will perform the coronation of Lord Shri Ram as the head of the Gorakhpeetha. The Gorakhpeetha has been observing the tradition of a grand procession on Vijayadashami for centuries.
The rituals will continue throughout Navratri.
Gorakhpeeth has a unique tradition of worshipping Shakti, along with Guru Gorakhnath, the incarnation of Shiva. The Shakti temple, located on the first floor of the monastery, hosts continuous spiritual practices throughout Navratri (both spring and autumn). The coronation of Raghav, or Lord Rama, at the end of Navratri is a tradition unseen elsewhere. The Gorakhpeeth head himself is present to perform the coronation of Raghav on Vijayadashami (Dussehra).
Regarding the traditional rituals taking place at the Gorakhnath Temple this Sharadiya Navratri, the temple's chief priest, Yogi Kamalnath, stated that the traditional Kalash procession will take place at the Gorakhnath Temple on Monday (September 22nd) at 5 p.m. on the first day of Sharadiya Navratri. This procession will be conducted under the protection of the temple's traditional soldiers, and will include all the saints, priests, yogis, children studying Vedas, priests, and devotees.
During the Kalash Yatra, the temple's chief priest will carry the trident, the weapon of Shiva, Shakti, and Mahayogi Gorakhnath. According to tradition, the person carrying the trident must stay at the temple for nine days. At the conclusion of the Kalash Yatra, the Kalash, filled with sacred water from Bhim Sarovar, will be installed in the Shakti Temple on the first floor of the monastery by Gorakhpeethadhiswar and Chief Minister Kalash Yogi Adityanath, marking the beginning of special worship of Goddess Bhagwati.
Yogi Kamalnath said that the rituals of Adishakti Maa Bhagwati Durga, Sharadiya Navratri and the holy festival of victory of truth, justice and religion, Vijayadashami, will be celebrated in the Gorakhnath temple in a traditional manner and with joy amidst various rituals from Ashwin Shukla Pratipada to Ashwin Shukla Dashami.
The story of Shrimaddevi Bhagwat will be held daily.
The temple's chief priest, Yogi Kamalnath, stated that during Sharadiya Navratri, the recitation of the Srimad Devi Bhagwat Katha and Durga Saptashati will continue at the monastery from Pratipada, September 22nd, throughout Navratri, every morning and evening, from 4 pm to 6 pm. Worship and aarti will be performed, accompanied by the invocation of deities. Gorakshapeethadhiswar Yogi Adityanath will perform Mahanisha puja and havan on Monday, September 29th, Ashtami, starting at 7 pm.
Gorakshapeethadhiswar will worship girls on Mahanavami
On Wednesday, October 1st, the Mahanavami fast of Sharadiya Navratri will begin at 11 a.m. with Gorakshapeethadhiswar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath worshipping the virgin girls by washing their feet. A feast will be organized for the girls, who embody the mother goddess, and the Gorakshapeethadhiswar will present them with dakshina and gifts. Some boys, dressed as Batuk Bhairav, will also participate in this ritual.
Gorakshapeethadhiswar's procession will be taken out on Vijayadashami
On Vijayadashami, Thursday, October 2nd, at 9:15 am, Gorakshapeethadhiswar Yogi Adityanath will perform a special puja of Shrinathji (Guru Gorakhnath). This will be followed by puja at all the idols and samadhis. The Tilakotsav ceremony for Gorakshapeethadhiswar will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm. Afterward, from 4 pm, the Chief Minister and Gorakshapeethadhiswar Yogi Adityanath will ride on a chariot and perform puja and abhishek of the idols at the Mansarovar Temple. After this, at 5 pm, the Gorakshapeethadhiswar will perform the puja at the Shri Ram Darbar at the Mansarovar Ramlila Maidan and perform the coronation of Lord Shri Ram. A feast will be held at the Gorakhnath Temple starting at 7 pm on this occasion.
