On the expiry day of the April series, the Indian market closed with a decline. Nifty and Sensex closed in the red after 7 consecutive sessions. Midcap and smallcap indices closed flat. On the sectoral front, pressure was seen on realty and FMCG stocks. IT, banking indices also closed in the red. However, pharma and metal indices closed with gains.
However, range bound trading was seen throughout Thursday. Nifty closed below 24,300. Today ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have put pressure on Nifty and Bank Nifty.

After a full day's trading on Thursday, Nifty closed 82 points lower at 24,247. Sensex closed 315 points lower at 70,801. Nifty Bank closed 169 points lower at 55,201. Nifty Midcap Index closed 71 points lower at 54,970. Which stocks showed action today ? HUL was the weakest stock on Nifty today. The stock closed 4% lower after margins were 22-23%. Nestle India closed lower from higher levels after mixed results. Tata Consumer closed 6% higher from the day's low. Laurus Labs performed better than expected in the fourth quarter, but despite this, the company's shares closed in the red with a decline of 1%. The possibility of profit booking in the market could be the reason for this decline. Divi's Labs made a great rally and its shares rose by 5%. Investors' interest increased towards this stock after a positive brokerage note. Lupin got approval for a new drug from the US FDA, which led to a gain of 1% in its shares. This approval can further strengthen the company's international presence. Dalmia Bharat jumped 5% after announcing its quarterly results. Strong earnings and better margins boosted investor confidence. Buying was also seen in the tire sector today. Shares of Apollo Tyres and MRF gained 2%. Expectations of improvement in demand in this sector are giving positive signals. However, Persistent Systems suffered losses due to its cautious approach and its shares fell 5% below its highest level. Adani Energy gained nearly 3% on the back of strong results.
