Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will be together on the SCO platform. PM Modi's visit to China has become even more important in view of the sudden deterioration in India-US relations due to Donald Trump's tariff policies.

The SCO conference will run from 31 August to 1 September

Prime Minister Modi has come to China mainly to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on August 31 and September 1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in China on Saturday after a gap of more than seven years. Prime Minister Modi last visited China in June 2018 to attend the SCO summit.

 

The Chinese President visited India in 2010

After this, Chinese President Xi Jinping came to India for the second "informal summit" in October 2019. But after the clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley in June 2020, there was tension in the relations between the two countries. Efforts were being made by both the countries to remove this tension. In this connection, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently visited India.

 

America has imposed tariff on India and China

Let us tell you here that Trump has imposed tariffs on India and China, while many sanctions have also been imposed on Russia. Shortly after reaching Tianjin, Modi received a call from Ukrainian President Zelensky. PM Modi is scheduled to have extensive talks with Putin during the summit in this Chinese city on Monday and the Ukraine conflict is expected to be one of the major topics of this conversation.

 

PM Modi will hold discussions with Xi Jinping today

On Sunday, Modi is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This meeting is also important because both India and China are looking to strengthen their bilateral relations amid global trade tensions due to Trump's tariff policy.

Modi spoke to Zelensky before meeting Putin

During this, Modi told Zelensky that India supports all efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Zelensky had told Modi that the war should end with an immediate ceasefire. Later Modi wrote on X- "Thank you to President Zelensky for his phone call. We discussed the ongoing conflict, its humanitarian aspect and efforts to restore peace and stability. India fully supports all efforts in this direction.''

 

PM Modi's visit will inject new momentum into China-India relations: Chinese Ambassador to India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, was given a warm welcome in India in Tianjin on Saturday. "Prime Minister Modi is warmly welcomed to China to attend the SCO summit. I believe this visit will inject new momentum into China-India relations," Xu posted on X.
