Importance of Rudrabhishek in the month of Sawan
"Rudrabhishek" means ritually anointing the fierce form of Lord Shiva, in which the Shivling is bathed by preparing Panchamrit from water, milk, honey, ghee, Gangajal. This is not just a worship method, but a spiritual process of connecting with Shiva.
It is clearly mentioned in Shiv Puran that-
"Shravan Mase Visheshena Yah Kuryadrudrapujanam. Being free from all sins: Lord Shiva."
Meaning- The devotee who especially performs Rudra Abhishek in the month of Sawan, becomes free from all sins and lives in Shivaloka.
Monday is the day of Chandradev and the moon itself sits on the head of Lord Shiva. Therefore, this day is considered extremely auspicious for Shiva worship. Mondays of Sawan are effective because in this season the effect of the sun is less and the effect of the moon is more.

Method of Rudra Abhishek (Sawan Rudra Abhishek Puja Vidhi)
- Take a bath in the morning, wear clean clothes and purify the place of worship with a calm mind.
- Keep the Shivlinga facing north and sit facing east.
- Establish Lord Ganesha, Nandi and Kalash in the puja. Fill the Kalash with Gangajal and mark Swastika and Mangal symbols on it.
- Keep betel nut, coconut, panchratna, coins, whole rice, sandalwood, roli and mauli in the kalash.
- First bathe the Shivling with Ganga water, then anoint it with milk, curd, ghee and honey.
- After this, offer Panchamrit, sandalwood, Belpatra, Shami Patra, Ankadha, Dhatura, lotus flower, sesame, rice etc.
- While offering the material, chant “Om Namah Shivay” or “Mahamrityunjaya Mantra”.
- In the end, do the Aarti of Lord Shiva and pray with all your heart.
