This year, the month of Savan started on 11 July 2025 and on the day of Savan Purnima, the month of Savan will also end and the new month (Bhadrapada) will begin. When will the month of Sawan end (Sawan 2025 End Date)
- The day Shravan Purnima is celebrated, the month of Shravan also ends on the same day. But this year there is confusion about the date of Shravan Purnima. Actually, Shravan Purnima is on 8th August and Shravan will end on 9th August. The festival of Rakshabandhan will also be celebrated on 9th August.
- There is confusion about the date of Sawan Purnima because according to the Drik Panchang, Sawan Purnima will start on August 8 at 02:12 pm and will end on August 9 at 01:4 pm. According to the Udayatithi, bathing, donation and fasting on Shravan Purnima will be valid on August 9.
- But on Sawan Purnima, there is importance of worshipping the moon by offering Arghya to it when it rises. Therefore, those who keep a fast and worship the Moon God or offer Arghya, will keep the fast of Sawan Purnima on 8th August only. Because on 9th August, the full moon date will remain till noon only.
Shravan Purnima Moon Time
Chandradoya will be at 6:42 pm on Shravan Purnima on 8 August. At this time you can worship the moon by seeing it and offering Arghya. You can do Purnima bath and donation on 9 August. The auspicious time for bath and donation will be from 04:22 am to 05:04 am on 9 August.
Importance of Moon Worship on Sawan Purnima
Although there is importance of worshipping the moon on the full moon day of every month. But it is considered best to worship the moon by offering Arghya on the full moon day of the month of Savan. Because the month of Savan is the favorite month of Lord Shiva and Lord Shiva has adorned the moon on his head. Also, religious activities like Shiva Pujan, Shri Hari Puja, Shravani Upkarma, Rakshabandhan, Snan-Daan, Satyanarayan Puja are also performed on the day of Savan Purnima, which increases the importance of this date even more.
