Sant Rampal's life imprisonment sentence has been suspended by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Let us tell you that seven years ago, Sant Rampal was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court in the case of death of five followers. Now after 5 years, Rampal has got relief in this case.
Why was Rampal punished?
In fact, in the year 2018, self-proclaimed saint Rampal, head of Satlok Ashram, and some of his followers were convicted by the court in two separate cases related to murder, hostage taking and criminal conspiracy. These cases were registered at Barwala police station in Hisar district on 19 November 2014.
There was a clash between the police and the followers
There was a clash between the police and Rampal's followers at his Satlok Ashram near Barwala town in Hisar district. Five people, including four women, were killed in this clash. This incident was discussed all over the country.
A petition was filed to suspend the sentence
In the petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a demand was made to suspend the life sentence given to Rampal by a court in Hisar in October 2018. A division bench of Justice Gurvinder Singh Gill and Justice Deepinder Singh Nalwa has passed this order after hearing the petition filed by Rampal.
