News Topical, Digital Desk : The central government on Tuesday blocked five OTT platforms for broadcasting obscene and objectionable content. Officials said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, following due procedure, has issued an order to block five OTT platforms namely MoodXVIP, Koyal PlayPro, Digi Movieplex, Feel and Jugnoo.

The government has directed internet service providers to block OTT platforms under the Information Technology Rules 2021 and anti-obscenity laws.

These rules are aimed at maintaining public decency, protecting national interests and enforcing ethical journalistic practices on digital platforms.

The action has been taken in accordance with Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, which gives the government the power to block online content for various reasons.
