News Topical, Digital Desk : The Ramayana, written by Valmiki, is a major Hindu text and the first epic poem in Sanskrit. Mandodari, known as Ravana's wife, is a prominent character in this text. Mandodari was a devoted wife and a great devotee of Lord Shiva. It was due to a boon from Lord Shiva that she married Ravana.

Vibhishana told this secret

During the battle, Lord Rama severed Ravana's head from his body several times with his arrows, yet Ravana remained undead. Vibhishana then revealed to Lord Rama the secret to Ravana's defeat: that Ravana could only be killed by a divine arrow striking him in the navel.

This divine arrow was given to Ravana as a boon by Lord Brahma. Ravana had it embedded in a pillar in his palace, directly opposite his throne. Besides Ravana, only Mandodari knew about it.

Hanuman ji wore this disguise

Hanuman then enters Ravana's palace disguised as an astrologer. With his intelligence and devotion, he wins Mandodari's trust, leading her to reveal the divine arrow to him. Hanuman then reverts to his true form and, with a single punch, shatters the pillar, extracting the arrow.

Returning to the battlefield, Hanuman hands the arrow to Lord Rama. Using this arrow, Lord Rama targets Ravana's navel, resulting in his death. Thus, it can be said that Mandodari, though unknowingly, played a role in Ravana's death.
