News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allocating ₹2,911 crore for railway expansion in Himachal Pradesh . In a statement issued in Shimla, Thakur said the budget, 27 times larger than during the UPA regime, reflects the central government's seriousness about Himachal's connectivity.
Jairam Thakur, targeting Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, said that despite the central government's full support, the state government's negligence is hampering projects. He alleged that the Sukhu government is not contributing its share to the rail network expansion. Due to delays, project costs are constantly rising. The Chief Minister should put aside political grudges and cooperate in development projects so that the dream of improved rail connectivity can be realized.
'Government violating constitutional rights'
Jairam Thakur also raised sharp questions about the delays in preparations for the Panchayat elections. He said that even after the deadline, voter lists have not been published in 10 out of 12 districts. Despite the Honorable High Court's order, the election process is being deliberately delayed. The Chief Minister should clarify whether the court orders are being disregarded on his instructions or are his subordinate officers acting on their own?
'US tariff cut a diplomatic victory for PM Modi'
Jairam Thakur described the US decision to reduce tariffs on Indian products as historic. He said that reducing the tariffs on Made in India products to 18% is a diplomatic success for Prime Minister Modi. This will not only provide a global market for India's small industries and startups, but will also give Indian talent a new identity on the international stage.
Condolences on the Uttarakhand bus accident
Jai Ram Thakur expressed deep condolences over the accident of an HRTC bus traveling from Chaupal to Paonta Sahib in Kuanu, Uttarakhand. Praying for the peace of the departed souls, he urged the Himachal and Uttarakhand governments to provide prompt and efficient medical care to all the injured.
