Rahul Gandhi was born on June 19, 1970 in New Delhi. He is the eldest child of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Currently, he is a Lok Sabha member and Leader of the Opposition from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.

In 2017, he took over as the President of the Indian National Congress, but he stepped down after the party's defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi lost the Amethi seat to Smriti Irani, but he also contested from Wayanad in Kerala and won from there. After this, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi won both the Rae Bareli seat in Uttar Pradesh and the Wayanad seat in Kerala. He decided to retain the Rae Bareli seat. His sister and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is the MP from Wayanad seat.
