News Topical, Digital Desk : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already committed its full strength to the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for February 2027. The party has entrusted Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini with the crucial responsibility of campaigning and strengthening its political base in Punjab. Be it political rallies or inducting a special personality into the party, CM Saini is now emerging as the main face of Punjab BJP's programmes.

Maintaining connection with the public through turban and Punjabi

To increase his appeal and establish a direct connection with the people of Punjab, Nayab Singh Saini is employing a unique strategy. He attends events in Punjab wearing a turban and addressing people in typical Punjabi.

In this connection, several student leaders from the Hindustan Student Union (HSU) joined the party under his leadership today at the Punjab BJP headquarters in Chandigarh. CM Saini is also attending three separate BJP events in Amritsar today. He also recently successfully led the BJP's political conference at the Maghi Mela in Muktsar.

AAP spending on advertisements, promises remain unfulfilled: Saini

During his address, CM Saini launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab. He criticized the Mann government for the growing drug trafficking, the menace of gangsters, and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Saini alleged that the Punjab government has completely failed to address real issues and curb drug abuse, instead spending most of its money solely on advertisements.

Comparing promises, he said that in Punjab, the promise of providing a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to women and Rs 2,500 to the elderly has not been fulfilled. In contrast, the BJP government in Haryana has fulfilled its promise and has begun providing pensions of Rs 2,100 to women and Rs 3,200 to the elderly. He also strongly criticized the Punjab government on the issue of farmers.

AAP and Congress raised questions, SYL issue heated up

Nayab Singh Saini's increasing activism in Punjab has raised the political temperature. The Aam Aadmi Party has taunted Saini, asking him to stop worrying about Punjab and instead focus on his own Haryana. An AAP MLA has even alleged that a man in Sangrur lured her with the promise of meeting Saini and joining the BJP (although CM Saini has vehemently denied these allegations).

Meanwhile, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has raised the water issue and urged people to boycott Nayab Singh Saini's events. Warring alleged that Saini wants to divert Punjab's water to Haryana through the SYL (Sutlej-Yamuna Link) canal.
