Pradosh Vrat (Pradosh Vrat 2026) is observed on this day. A fast is also observed on this day to attain happiness and peace in life. According to religious belief, observing the Pradosh Vrat bestows the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It also increases happiness and prosperity.
Pradosh Vrat 2026 Date and Shubh Muhurat
According to the Vedic calendar, the Trayodashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) of the month of Paush (the bright fortnight) begins at 1:47 AM on January 1st. This Tithi will end at 10:22 PM on January 1st. Consequently, the first Pradosh fast of the year 2026 will be observed on January 1st.

Pradosh Vrat Puja Vidhi
- On the day of Pradosh fast, after taking bath in the morning, offer arghya to Sun God.
- Wear clean clothes and take a vow to fast.
- Light a lamp in the evening and worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
- Anoint the Shivling with Panchamrit.
- Apply sandalwood tilak.
- Recite the fast story and chant mantras.
- Offer fruits, sweets and other things.
Keep these things in mind
- Don't argue with anyone
- Do not consume tamasic things.
- Take special care of the cleanliness of the house and temple.
- Do recite Shiv Chalisa.
- Donate things like food, money etc.
- Be sure to anoint the Shivling .
- Fruits, milk, curd and sago can be consumed.
- Break the fast the next morning.
