News Topical, Digital Desk : A shameful incident of police brutality has come to light from the Civil Lines police station area of Moradabad, where a shopkeeper has accused two policemen of severely assaulting him after he refused to give him goods for free. The shopkeeper says that when he asked for money, the policemen beat him.
The victim, Narendra Kumar, runs a grocery and food shop in Chatori Gali, Ramganga Bihar Phase 2. Narendra said that on November 10, 2025, at around 11 p.m., two uniformed men came to his shop and ordered pulses. When he asked for money, they said they would pay later.
Shopkeeper brutally beaten for asking for money
The shopkeeper said he should pay, as he charges every customer. The policemen became enraged. Shortly after, four policemen arrived and surrounded him. The victim said that all six of them then brutally beat him with slaps, kicks, and sticks. They knocked over all the goods in the shop and tore several packages.
When bystanders tried to intervene, the policemen intimidated them and chased them away. After which, he somehow managed to escape and reach his home. He was deeply traumatized by the incident and is still unable to speak properly. On Tuesday morning, the victim, along with his family and local residents, filed a complaint.
Victim alleges threats
The victim alleges that the policemen threatened him with imprisonment for speaking out. The incident has sparked widespread anger among local residents, who say that some policemen often use their uniforms to demand free goods from shopkeepers and mistreat those who resist.
Local traders are deeply angered by this incident. They have warned that if strict action is not taken against the guilty policemen, they will surround the police station and launch a trade shutdown. Upon learning of the incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Moradabad, arrived at the scene and ordered an investigation into the entire matter.
The victim, Narendra, said, "I'm a common man, I work hard to earn a living. If those in uniform forcibly assault me, who will provide justice? I won't rest until these policemen are prosecuted."
