Severe floods wreak havoc in Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir was hit by severe floods, adversely affecting both the Jammu division and the Valley. The Jammu division bore the brunt of the natural disaster. On August 14, a cloudburst in Kishtwar district killed 67 people, mostly pilgrims on the Mata Machail Devi Yatra, and injured over 100.

On August 26, 32 pilgrims to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine were killed when a landslide struck a shelter on the route to the shrine.
