News Topical, Digital Desk : In anticipation of the increased passenger traffic during Diwali and Chhath festivals, the railway administration has made major changes at New Delhi Railway Station. For passenger convenience and crowd control, temporary platform changes have been made for approximately a dozen trains. These changes will remain in effect until October 30th.
New Delhi Railway Station sees its largest crowds each year during festivals like Diwali and Chhath. Keeping this in mind, the Railways has taken these precautionary measures. According to railway officials, this decision has been taken to ensure smooth passenger movement on the platforms and prevent chaos.
Focus on crowded platforms
Officials said that platforms 12, 13, 14, and 15 used to have multiple crowded trains departing at the same time, causing inconvenience to both passengers and railway staff. Platforms 12, 13, and 14, 15 in particular are located on opposite sides of the same platform, which created congestion. The platform changes were made to alleviate this.
Railway appeals to passengers
The railway administration has urged passengers to check their train's platform information before traveling. Officials stated that this temporary change has been made to ensure crowd control and safety, providing a better experience for passengers during the festive season.
After the change, these trains will depart from these platforms.

Platform ticket sales stopped at major Delhi stations
Meanwhile, in another temporary arrangement, in light of the festive season, platform ticket sales will be suspended from October 15th to 28th at Delhi's major railway stations—New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Nizamuddin, and Ghaziabad Junction. The Railways stated that this decision was taken to control crowds and strengthen security.
