
News Topical, Digital Desk : The Odisha High Court has granted bail to Bigyan Ranjan Das, accused in a car theft case, but has imposed some unique conditions for this. The court has said that after being released, the accused will have to plant 100 trees and do cleaning work at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. This decision has been taken by the bench of Justice S.K. Panigrahi. The accused was in jail since January.
According to the court order, Das will have to plant 100 saplings of local varieties like mango, neem, tamarind. This plantation will be done in Dumduma area. The saplings can be planted on government land, community land or private land of Das or his family. If land is not available, the revenue department will help in identifying the place. The accused himself will have to take care of these saplings for two years. The Info Valley police station in-charge will monitor its compliance.
Bail cancelled for not complying with the conditions
Also, the accused will have to clean the wards and rooms at Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar for one month. The hospital superintendent has been directed to make arrangements for this through the staff. The court has strictly warned that if the accused does not follow these conditions, his bail will be cancelled.
The car used in the incident has been recovered
According to the information, this incident happened on the night of January 23, when the complainant was going from Patrapada to Pitapalli in his car. On the way, a young man asked for a lift and then two other companions came and threatened the complainant and fled with his car. The car used in the theft incident was recovered from the accused Das and the charge sheet has also been filed. In this way, the court has tried to connect the accused with social service by not limiting the punishment to jail only, so that the criminal can be reformed and the society also gets benefited.
