News Topical, Digital Desk : Gaining admission to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a dream come true for any student. Shahbaz, alias Tabish, who had been living with weapons in Sir Ziauddin Hall for a year, obtained admission to two courses using fake documents.
The university's high-tech security system fell flat in front of him. Two other students were sharing the room with the accused. The discovery of cartridges, magazines, and other items in the room has raised security questions. Shouldn't visitors to the hall be monitored?
There should be no investigation into who was allotted the room or who was living there. The police worked with a thorough plan to search for the student in Sir Ziauddin Hall. The team simply informed the AMU administration that they were looking for a student.
His name has been implicated in a criminal incident. CO Sarvam Singh arrived with the officers in charge of Quarsi and Civil Lines, as well as the city's Special Operations Group (SOG). He also called Proctor Professor Naved Khan. Seeing the large number of police, the students and the hall staff were left staring.
The police searched room number Z-34 for over two hours, checking every item. They found magazines, cartridges, counterfeit currency, fake marksheets, mobile phones, as well as Aadhaar and PAN cards. Shahbaz had been living in the room for a year, posing as an MCA student.
No one knew that he was also a diploma engineering student. This information was discovered when police searched his room and found evidence of his enrollment in two other classes. It has also been revealed that Shahbaz has been involved in criminal activities in the past.
Sleeps during the day, goes out at night
Shahbaz, who is absconding on charges of firing, didn't have much contact with the students. It was also revealed that he stayed in his room most of the day and only came out at night. Where did he go at night, who did he stay with, and what did he do?
These questions have become part of the police investigation. The police also suspect Shahbaz is involved in the arms trade. Whenever there is a dispute between student groups and outsiders at AMU, firing occurs.
Where do these people get their weapons from? The police may find the answer to this question after the arrest of the accused.
Call details will help the police
The police are also examining the call details of Shahbaz's mobile number. This will reveal who he was in contact with. What kind of people were in his circle of friends? What do they do?
Police also recovered eight mobile phones from the room. They are investigating whose ID they were purchased under and which SIM cards were used.
AMU should ban entry of outsiders: SSP
SSP Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said that the items found in the student's room are being thoroughly examined. A search is underway for the accused. Bulandshahr police have also been contacted.
The AMU administration has already been told to ban the entry of outsiders. Only students currently studying there should be admitted. A letter will soon be written to the AMU administration in this regard so that action can be taken against the offenders.
The Proctorial team apprehended 70 outsiders and handed them over to the police.
Proctor Professor Naved Khan stated that the AMU administration is continuously working to crack down on outsiders. During the past month, 70 outsiders were apprehended. Many of these individuals were also handed over to the police.
The suspicious car found near Aftab Hall was seized by the Proctorial team after calling the police. A search operation will also be conducted inside the hall. Our sole aim is to provide a better environment for students at the university.
Shahbaz and two other students were illegally staying in the room in Sir Ziauddin Hall that the police raided. The room belongs to another student. A thorough investigation is underway. Strict action will be taken.
