Earlier, the lower court had rejected the bail plea of ​​the accused in the Parliament security breach case. The accused had challenged the lower court's order. The Delhi High Court had reserved its decision on May 21 after hearing the bail pleas of Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat. The police had argued in the court that the intention of the accused was to revive the horrific memories of the 2001 Parliament attack.

In fact, on December 13, 2023, a major incident of lapse in the security of Parliament came to light. This day was also the anniversary of the terrorist attack on Parliament in 2001. During the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D jumped down from the gallery into the House. They released yellow gas in the House and raised slogans. The MPs present in the Lok Sabha controlled them. At the same time, two other accused Amol Shinde and Neelam Azad sprayed colored gas and raised slogans outside the Parliament premises. While investigating the case, the police arrested two other accused Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat.
