News Topical, Digital Desk : The India-Pakistan exchange of accusations has begun once again. This time, the reason is the cancellation of an Oxford Union debate in Britain. The debate was supposed to focus on India-Pakistan policy, with speakers from Pakistan and India scheduled to participate. However, at the last minute, the Pakistani side made a U-turn and did not participate.
In fact, Pakistan, at the last minute, distanced itself from the debate and forced its cancellation, but blamed India for it. The Pakistan High Commission spread rumors that the Indian speaker withdrew due to a "lack of trust." Responding to this, Indian speaker Sai Deepak came forward and revealed the truth, exposing Pakistan's shamelessness by sharing email and call logs.
Pakistan made this allegation
It should be noted that Hina Rabbani Khar was one of the Pakistani representatives in this debate. The matter came to light through a post from the Pakistan High Commission in Britain, which accused the Indian speakers of withdrawing from the debate. The Pakistan High Commission wrote, "The Pakistani speakers had already arrived in London and were scheduled to travel to Oxford today. However, this morning the Oxford Union informed the organizers that the three Indian speakers had decided to withdraw from the event. They did not provide any concrete explanation for their absence from the debate, which they had previously confirmed."
What did Indian J Sai Deepak say?
Advocate J. Sai Deepak from India arrived in London to participate in the debate. He was joined by UK-based activist Manu Khajuria and Pandit Satish K. Sharma as replacements. Deepak explained that the three of us were ready to participate in the debate on the afternoon of November 27th, but then we learned that the Pakistani team would not be participating.
Criticising the Pakistan High Commission's post, Deepak wrote, "Believe me, Pakistanis have turned even the Oxford Union into a pigsty. Pakistanis, as always, are genetically incapable of telling the truth."
The phone rang before dinner.
Deepak said he received a call just three hours before dinner, saying the debate had been canceled because the Pakistani side hadn't arrived in the UK. Deepak also shared his call log on his X-thread, which revealed he received a call from organizer Musa Harraj, who apologized for the last-minute cancellation.
Deepak wrote, "I was unhappy with the time and effort that went into this debate. I expressed my displeasure with the extremely poor conduct of the event." He said the entire event was poorly managed.
