Police said that a woman in Pakistan strangled her teenage daughter to death after a fight over smoking a cigarette. The incident took place in Basti Sokar, Bahawalpur district, Punjab, about 400 kilometers from Lahore.

According to the police, 45-year-old Nabila Ahmed and her 16-year-old daughter Ayesha often quarreled over smoking. "Ayesha didn't like her mother smoking in public and would stop her from doing so," police said. Meanwhile, on Saturday night, Ayesha interrupted her mother again, angering her. Nabila became so enraged that she strangled Ayesha. "After committing the crime, Nabila fled the scene. However, after receiving information from a family member, the police team arrested Nabila," police said. Following the incident, forensic and crime scene units collected evidence from the scene.
There have been incidents before
In a similar incident in June, a 17-year-old Pakistani social media influencer was murdered. Sana Yousuf, a well-known TikTok content creator from Upper Chitral with nearly half a million followers on Instagram, was allegedly shot at close range by a relative.
